"Michael and I had a very special personal relationship for the last ten years or so. We both served on the Trinity Board and both always seemed to connect whenever he was in town for Board meetings. We visited a lot about west Texas ranching and I always encouraged him to come see what a real Texas working ranch was like. But, unfortunately we never had that opportunity. He was totally committed to his alma mater, and played a lead role in fundraising and was personally responsible for many meaningful gifts to his school. His service as Trinity’s Chairman was something he took very seriously and I know it was really special to him. I had the good fortune to have a telephone visit with him shortly before his passing. I will always remember him for so many reasons, but especially as a good personal friend. He will be missed by all that knew him."
